The Challenge

M&Co, the famous leading chain store, had been selling online worldwide for over five years. However, it was encountering many common global e-commerce obstacles that were preventing it from capitalising on its international online traffic. Due to high shipping costs M&Co was only able to offer international shipping via mail, and some of its bulkier products were difficult to ship internationally profitably. Additionally, it was only able to support a limited number of payment methods and a single currency, GBP, and did not provide international shoppers with a local tax and duties calculation, which hampered international conversion rates.

It was clear that international online growth was a key component to boosting sales and revenues and ensuring M&Co’s continued success, but it first needed to overcome these challenges. The retailer was in need of an efficient and cost-effective solution that would reduce shipping costs and allow it to offer an excellent shopping experience to shoppers all around the world, while increasing customer satisfaction, sales and revenues in existing markets as well as expanding to new ones.

The Solution

  • Localised welcome pop-up messages informing shoppers of free international shipping offerings and other key marketing messages
  • Localised checkout in 30+ languages
  • Transparent and convenient returns portal

Global-e’s Smart customisation enabled M&Co to tailor its offerings to each market while reducing the cost of its international logistics, and therefore the retailer was able to allocate more resources to international marketing activity to support its business goals. Offering incentives like free shipping for orders above local duties and taxes thresholds immediately boosted sales and conversions in top markets.
