The Challenge

Popular for its sustainable, ultra-feminine and timeless designs, Spanish fashion brand INDI&COLD gained success in its domestic market and was also selling online to other EU markets. To grow revenue channels, the brand wanted to expand its global e-commerce footprint and tap into new markets, as well as increase sales in existing EU markets.

However, the INDI&COLD team understood that in order to grow successfully outside of the EU, they need to enhance their webstore and adjust it to non-EU audiences. This included capabilities such as presenting prices and allowing payment in local currencies, tax and duty management and accepting payment via a wide range of local and alternative payment methods.

INDI&COLD looked for an end-to-end solution that would cover all of these aspects, help drive online growth in current international markets and easily integrate into its Magento webstore. The team sought a global e-commerce partner with experience and scale they could leverage, to enable the brand to increase revenue in existing markets and expand into new markets in a simple and cost-effective manner.

The Solution

To grow into new markets and increase sales in the EU, INDI&COLD partnered with Global-e, the world’s leading platform to enable and accelerate direct-to-consumer global e-commerce growth.

Through a single integration via Global-e’s certified Magento API, INDI&COLD deployed a comprehensive localised shopping experience to its webstore and began selling to new markets worldwide. The brand can now offer a seamless shopping journey to online shoppers in over 200 markets, aligning with INDI&COLD’s business strategy.

This includes:

  • Localised messaging – Customisable welcome pop-up message and top-line banner, set per market, promoting key marketing messages such as free shipping over a specific threshold. Supported in over 30 languages.
  • Local pricing in local currencies – Shoppers can browse and pay in their local currency. Product pricing is set per market according to INDI&COLD’s business strategy and rounded according to local market conventions. Over 100 currencies are supported.
  • Multilingual checkout page – Shoppers can complete their purchase in their native language. Over 30 languages are supported.
  • Guaranteed final cost of purchase – A flexible approach to duties and taxes based on best practices per market and capabilities, that offer:
    • Pricing inclusive of duties and taxes, informing customers that no additional costs will be added at checkout or upon delivery
    • Prices inclusive of duties with taxes displayed at the checkout with the option to prepay
    • All taxes and duties displayed at checkout and a prepayment option for a guaranteed
      landing cost.
  • Multiple shipping options at competitive rates – Including free shipping for purchases above specified thresholds.
  • A wide range of local and alternative payment methods – Over 150 payment options are supported, including the most popular methods in each market, such as Buy-now-Pay-later and digital wallets.
  • Easy and transparent returns – Multi-lingual international returns portal and pre-paid returns.

 

Global-e’s end-to-end solution covers all aspects of international e-commerce operations for the brand, reducing the risk and hassle involved in global online trading. This includes international inbound and outbound logistics, import processing, compliance with local market regulations, tax and duty management, international payment processing and fraud prevention and customer support.

The Results

Within less than a year of partnering with Global-e and launching an enhanced international webstore in both new and existing markets across the globe, INDI&COLD saw substantial
e-commerce growth, with an overall 215% YoY increase in revenue across these markets.

Non-EU markets have become a significant revenue stream for the brand. In Canada, which has become one of the brand’s top-selling international markets, prices are presented in Canadian Dollars and are inclusive of all duties, with provincial sales tax presented at checkout to match the local shopping experience. In the UK, another new key market, shoppers can view and pay for products in GBP and prices are inclusive of VAT to match local customers’ expectations.

Launching an advanced localised shopping experience also generated significant uplift in EU markets. The overall number of orders across these markets rose by 59% YoY and revenue increased by 64% YoY.

In addition, previously top-selling markets like Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, have seen impressive increases in sales and revenue.
