The Challenge

The high-end French label Fusalp, known for its luxury skiwear, had gained a global clientele, selling its products across its brand boutiques as well as in partner stores in key locations across Europe, the USA and APAC. The brand’s webstore offered international shipping and the brand was selling online mostly to the USA and European markets.

While in the USA and most European markets the brand presented prices and accepted payments in the local currency, shoppers in many other international markets were not able to browse and pay in their currency and accordingly were faced with unknown currency conversion rates and international transaction fees. Customers were able to check out with credit cards or PayPal, and no popular alternative or local payment options, such as digital wallets, were available. Additionally, the brand was unable to provide calculation or prepayment of duties and taxes at checkout, exposing their customers to unexpected fees upon delivery.

Looking to fully capitalise on their global potential and grow their sales in key as well as in untapped markets, the team at Fusalp came to realise that they need to enhance the buying journey on the brand’s website and offer their customers worldwide a seamless experience, in order to overcome the many barriers that hinder their international traffic conversion.

Fusalp was looking for an end-to-end solution that would integrate into its e-commerce platform, PrestaShop, and enable the brand to offer shoppers worldwide with a seamless, best-in-class buying experience. After encountering the many challenges involved in international e-commerce selling, the brand sought a partner that would also handle all global e-commerce operations and logistics, with substantial global e-commerce experience that the brand could leverage to grow its international online business in a simple and cost-effective manner.

The Solution

To maximise its global potential and reach its objectives, Fusalp chose to partner with Global-e, the world’s leading platform to enable and accelerate direct-to-consumer global e-commerce growth.

Through Global-e’s certified PrestaShop module, Fusalp was able to deploy an end-to-end localised shopping journey to its website, through a single integration process, and offer online shoppers in over 200 destinations worldwide an optimal experience, tailored to their market, and in alignment with the brand’s business strategy.   • Localised messaging – Customisable welcome pop-up message and top-line banner, set per market, promoting key marketing messages such as free shipping over a specific threshold. Supported in over 30 languages.
  • Local pricing in local currencies – Shoppers can browse and pay in their local currency. Product pricing is set per market according to Fusalp’s business strategy and rounded according to local market conventions. 100+ currencies are supported.
  • Multilingual checkout page – Shoppers can complete their purchase in their native language. Over 30 languages are supported.
  • Guaranteed final cost of purchase – A flexible approach to duties and taxes based on best practices per market and capabilities, that offer:
    – Pricing inclusive of duties and taxes, informing customers that no additional costs will be added at checkout or upon delivery
    – Prices inclusive of duties with taxes displayed at the checkout with the option to prepay
    – All taxes and duties displayed at checkout and a prepayment option for a guaranteed landing cost.
  • Express shipping at competitive rates – Including free shipping for purchases above specified thresholds.
  • A wide range of local and alternative payment methods – Over 150 payment options are supported, including the most popular methods in each market, such as Buy-now-Pay-later and digital wallets.
  • Easy and transparent returns – Multi-lingual international returns portal and pre-paid returns.

The Results

Within less than three months of launching its renewed global e-commerce website with Global-e, Fusalp saw impressive growth in its global e-commerce. International conversion rates rose by 149% YoY, the number of international orders rose by 138% YoY and international revenue rose by 113% YoY. International e-commerce has become a substantial revenue stream: the overall share of international revenue has grown by 59% and now accounts for over 50% of Fusalp’s e-commerce revenues.

Fusalp saw impressive results across key international markets. In the USA, one of the brand’s top three markets, the number of orders grew by 170% YoY and revenue grew by 112% YoY. In addition, with Global-e’s advanced payment optimisation capabilities, approval rates for the USA increased by 66% YoY. In Germany, where the brand saw 85% YoY uplift in number of orders, 72% of its customers now choose to pay with local and altenrative methods such as Klarna BNPL and 33% opt to check out in German.

Fusalp also saw significant increase in previously low performing markets, including key European markets such as Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. In Switzerland, for example, 51% of the brand’s shoppers in this market choose to pay with alternative methods, including Twint, which is popular among local shoppers.
