With a unique take on Parisian chic, the French fashion brand Vanessa Bruno offers modern yet timeless pieces that prioritise comfort and elegance, effortless sophistication, and a fashionable twist.

From an early stage, Vanessa Bruno sold online to a global audience. While the webstore had some localisation, the Vanessa Bruno team realised that they were not offering their international customers the same high-level shopping experience that their domestic customers enjoyed, preventing the brand from fully capitalising on its global e-commerce growth potential.

Prices were presented, and payments accepted only in EUR, USD, or GBP. Customers worldwide could not pay in their local currency, exposing them to unknown exchange rates and fees. Also, the brand could only accept credit cards, PayPal, and Amazon Pay, while many popular local and alternative options were not supported.
Furthermore, Vanessa Bruno could not provide global online shoppers with a calculation or prepayment options for duty and taxes.
Moreover, the brand’s international shipping rates were costly in many markets, hindering its international conversion rates.

Vanessa Bruno searched for a global e-commerce partner to accelerate its international D2C online sales, scale globally in a simple, cost-effective way, and expand its global footprint by penetrating new markets.   • Guaranteed landed cost – A flexible approach to duties and taxes based on best practices per market and capabilities that provide:
    – Pricing inclusive of duties and taxes according to local market best practices, informing customers that no additional costs will be added at checkout or upon delivery
    – Prices inclusive of duties with taxes displayed and pre-paid at checkout
    – Calculation of all taxes and duties displayed at checkout and a prepayment option for a guaranteed landing cost
  • Multiple shipping options at competitive rates – Including ship to collection points and free shipping for purchases above specified thresholds, set per market in accordance with the brand’s business strategy
  • A wide range of local and alternative payment methods – More than 150 payment methods are supported, including the most commonly used methods in each market, such as online payment options and buy now-pay later. With Global-e’s best-in-class AI-based fraud prevention solution Vanessa Bruno can now maximise its international acceptance rates.
  • Easy and transparent return process – multiple return pre-paid options, including home pick-up and collection points.

The Results

Within only three months of partnering with Global-e and launching its renewed shopping experience, Vanessa Bruno saw an impressive 24%YoY increase in international traffic conversion rate and a 48% YoY uplift in international D2C revenue across all markets.

By localising its international propositions and adjusting them to each market, including pricing strategies, tax and duty strategy and shipping rates, the brand has seen significant growth across its key international markets.

In the United States, Vanessa Bruno now includes all duties in the price and displays only local sales tax at checkout, matching a domestic shopping experience. Conversion rates rose by 31% YoY within 3 months and number of orders grew by 56%.

In The Netherlands, where number of orders rose by 124% YoY, the brand’s online customers now enjoy a wider range of payment choices. 52% choose to pay iDeal, a local payment method popular in this market.

By optimising the shopping experience for the specific preferences of each market, Vanessa Bruno has also been able to penetrate and gain traction in markets they saw very little or no orders from before like Taiwan, Japan, and Canada.

Since partnering with Global-e, international e-commerce has become a significant growth engine for Vanessa Bruno and the share of global online orders out of the brand’s total orders has grown by 32%.
