The Challenge

As one of the most famous luxury fashion brands in the world, Marc Jacobs had been transacting online with shoppers worldwide for a long time. However, they were only able to offer a limited localized experience, supporting just a few international currencies in addition to $US (AUD, GBP, EUR, HKD, KRW), they were only accepting payments through major international credit cards and PayPal, and weren’t able to adjust the local pricing to their specific marketing strategy and MSRP pricing in the different markets.

The brand sought a new powerful global e-commerce solution that would enable them to optimize their performance in current key markets, widen their international online reach and offer a seamless localized experience to their shoppers worldwide. This included overcoming the different barriers to effective global online trading, such as import duties and taxes calculation and guaranteed landed cost and checkout adjusted to local characteristics in different markets (language, required fields, payment options, etc.).

The premier brand was seeking an end-to-end solution that would make global selling as simple as a domestic sale in the US while removing all risks of international fraud management and currency volatility.   • Local pricing in accordance with the brand’s business strategy including fixed MSRP pricing in key markets
  • Prices presented in local currencies and rounded according to local market conventions
  • Localized checkout supporting 30+ languages, and with fields adjusted for the destination markets
  • Guaranteed duties and taxes calculation with options for prepayment at checkout and product pricing inclusive of taxes
  • A variety of commonly used local payment methods including all dominant alternative payment methods for their key markets, such as Klarna open invoice (~35% market share in Germany), WeChat and Alipay in China (~75% market share) and many more

The Results

Within three months of partnering with Global-e, the number of international online orders increased 77% YoY compared to the same period in the previous year. The brand saw e-commerce revenues increase by 130% and increased satisfaction from international shoppers.
